Choosing the Right Name for Your Little Angel
by: Tina Carder
Now a days when it almost anything goes when it comes to Naming your Baby.
And, with thousands of baby names to choose from, how do you choose one that will make your baby happy when they hear it.
You wouldn't settle for a second rate doctor or hospital during your pregnancy or the birth of your baby, so why settle for a second rate baby name that can affect your baby's feelings for a lifetime!
When choosing a baby name take your time and look through different types of baby name books, and here on the net.
Remember that whatever baby name you choose it is going to be one that you'll be saying a lot and one your baby will carry for a lifetime.
Don't Rush or Choose the First Baby Name that comes to mind and please try to give some thought as to what the name means.
Even though you might think the meaning of the baby name you choose doesn't matter remember that other people just might think it does.
Although the hospital would prefer that you name your baby before taking the baby home some couples have waited for awhile after taking the baby home before committing to a legal name.
Keep looking untill you find a baby name that completely makes you happy. More importantly one that will make your baby happy as he or she grows up.
So how do you choose a baby name that reflects your baby's own uniqueness and not the current trend?
Trends come and trends go but the name you give the hospital to put on your baby's birth certificate is there forever!
Ask yourself if the name you're about to pin on your baby is one that both of you can live with now and in the future.
While you're readying the room for your new baby why not try out the baby names on a couple of the stuffed animals in the baby's room. Try saying the names out load to the stuffed animals over and over, and see how well you like the sound of the names day after day. You just might change your mind but, remember it's better to change your mind before the baby comes than not to be able to change the name after your baby's arrival.
When choosing a baby name take into consideration the last name which will accompany your baby's first name and middle name.
Example: If your last name is Pigg, you wouldn't want to name your baby girl, Polly or Polly Anna.
Note: No offense to anyone with that last name. My sister actually married a man with the last name Pigg.
Why not? : Think of the combinations of nicknames or cruel taunting names your baby will most likely have to deal with one day.
Example: Last name = Pigg First name = Polly Middle name = Anna
Whole name = Polly Anna Pigg
Taunting names from other kids: Polly Piggy, Pee A Pigg, PPee, Piggy Adaah, Rolley Polley Piggy, Pee Piggy, get the idea?!
Remember what sounds so sweet and cutesie now can have the total opposite sound as your baby grows up.
Take your time and don't feel pressured to choose a name on the spot.
Most important of all just enjoy the arrival of your new little angel.
Congrats on the New Little One.

Child Safety
Parents, guardians, and adults who care for children face constant challenges when trying to help keep children safer in today's fast-paced world. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) offers easy-to-use safety resources to help address these challenges.
For decades, children were taught to stay away from "strangers." But this concept is difficult for children to grasp and often the perpetrator is someone the child knows. It is more beneficial to help build children's confidence and teach them to respond to a potentially dangerous situation, rather than teaching them to look out for a particular type of person.
NCMEC is the nation's resource center for protecting children. Our prevention and safety education programs and materials contain information and tips that will help you keep your children safer. The Just In Case... and Know the Rules publication series are especially important for parents and guardians.
Choosing Unique Baby Names A Blessing Or A Curse?
Choosing unique baby names for our children can be an exciting, yet stressful experience. Are their names going to aid them in life or attract negative attention? As parents, we dream of our child being successful and important, which is why choosing a baby name can be a very rewarding experience. Unfortunately, society is more concerned with the outer image then with the measure of a person's character. As a result, we worry about our child being accepted by their peers, while being unique enough to stand out from the crowd. We know as parents that our baby's name can be directly related to their path and successes in life; therefore, it is not something to be taken lightly.
There are keys to keep in mind when choosing unique baby names that can help to ward off unneeded stress, as this should be a wonderful experience to share with those whom you love.
Here are a few thoughts to consider when choosing a unique baby name:
1. Unique baby names are beautiful, but remember to think about your child's social interactions in the future.
As mothers, we just want the best for our children, and we want to feel proud also. However, sometimes this is not always the best for our kids. A unique name for your baby is wonderful, but it should not be too unusual. This may hurt them in the long run. As much as we hate to admit it, children can be cruel growing up. We have all experienced this one way or another.
2. You have the last word when choosing a baby name
Some times, family heritage is a very strong influence when choosing a name. It is a wonderful idea to pass down and respect a family; however, it is not healthy for you or your new baby if you are trying to please them and not yourself. This is your baby, and you should be happy with the name. You should not settle on a name until you are completely happy, whether or not it is family related.
3. If you are having a lot of trouble, ask for suggestions from people you love and trust.
It is good to get suggestions from others, for it broadens your thinking and may just surprise you with some new, beautiful, unique baby names. Send out emails to your coworkers and friends asking them to come up with the top unique baby names. You can even make it into a contest and reward them with a free lunch. Have some fun with it. This way, you can let all of the people you love take part in this wonderful decision with you, and take some of the stress away!
4. Do not feel guilty that you do not have a name yet.
You might not know this, but it is very common to be stuck on choosing a baby name. Do not let anyone tell you that you have to hurry up and find a name before the baby is born. It is perfectly OK to be indecisive. You just want the best for your new baby. I think your child would be happy that you are this concerned, so try not to stress about it. It will come at the right time.
5. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!
As mothers, we face a lot of stress having to deal with pregnancy and parenting. We do not need any more pressure than we already have. Just remember, you will only go this way once, so try to enjoy it!
Try not to worry about any adverse effects or mistakes you will make with finding unique baby names for your new little one. Trust me, if you are concerned about your child this much, then I am sure this baby will have all of the love and adoration it needs. Your unconditional love will give them the success and ability to fulfill any dreams they have, and overcome any obstacle they may come against. No name, whether unique or not, can ever compete with that.

Tips for Choosing a Baby Girl Name
Girl names are so important. You want to choose a name that will serve your new baby girl well in her life. It can be easy to choose a name that sounds cute when your daughter is a baby without thinking about how it will sound when she is grown.
Here are some helpful tips to consider as you begin choosing a baby girl name for your new bundle of joy.
Think about Double Meaning
Many baby girl names are also common words in the English language. For instance Autumn, Opal, April, June and Summer are all wonderful names for your baby girl but they do come with a double meaning. Be sure that you are comfortable choosing a name for your baby girl that will almost assuredly give her a lifetime of explaining her name to people she meets.
Nicknames are Tricky
Especially for girls when it comes to nicknames these can be branding in school. Nicknames like Sticky Vicky or Dizzy Lizzy may be more than you want your daughter to experience in life. Make sure you think about what nicknames your daughter may experience with her given name.
Think Family
Family names may be just the ticket to choosing your baby girls' name. If you have a favorite aunt or grandmother passing on her name can be a wonderful way to connect your new daughter with her ancestry.
This is your Baby Girl
Just remember that this is your baby girl and she will have the name you give her all the days of her life. Choose well and have faith that your new daughter will cherish her name.

Tips for Choosing a Baby Boy Name
Choosing a name for your baby boy can feel overwhelming when you begin to consider that your little one will have this name his entire life. You may be wondering do we choose a family name or try something a bit more contemporary. This is when many parents turn to books and the internet for suggestions on choosing a baby boy name.
If you are preparing to bring your new son home and are looking for ideas on a name here are helpful tips on choosing a name for your baby boy.
Consider how it Sounds
Say your ideas out loud and listen to how it sounds. You want a name that is easy to say and sounds good. For example a rhyming name is very distinctive and may lead to teasing in school. Also names that mean other things like Forest and Sky can be a big burden to a young child.
Think Monogram
Think about the initials your baby boy will have with his name. The initials for Samuel Adam Paul give you SAP which may not look good in a monogram.
Remember the Tease Factor
Children are ruthless when it comes to teasing and funny names and nicknames are an easy target. As you are choosing a baby boy name think about what nicknames will come along with his name. How to Choose a Baby Name
Your new baby needs a name to begin his journey into life. Read about the serious business of choosing the right name for your baby.
Getting ready to bring a new baby into the world involves a lot of preparatory work. Your baby needs his own clothes, accessories, toiletries, toys, etc. One of the most important requirements though is his own name. Your baby's name will identify him in a crowd and be a word which he will associate himself with for the rest of his life. Your child will not choose his own name. You, as his parent, will select it for him. With such an important decision to make for your child, deciding on a name for your baby should take into account the following factors.
Uniqueness
Would you like your child to have a rare and unique name? Remember that this name will then make him stand out in a crowd. This can be both an advantage and a disadvantage. He will easily recognize when he is being called. At the same time, rare and complicated names have immense potential for misunderstandings and mistaken pronunciations. Teachers and caregivers may unintentionally mangle your child's name if they have difficulty speaking it aloud.
At the same time, do not give your child a name that is too common. Varsha regrets the name she gave to her son Anil. There were five boys with the same name in her son's class at school. Everyone kept getting confused. For the entire year, her son would proudly introduce himself as Anil B whenever he met someone. Even at home, he would only respond if she called him by the same name.
A good tip is to go for a blend of rare and common names. If you have a common surname, consider giving your child a slightly unusual name to make it easier for him in school and later on, at the workplace. On the other hand, if your surname is uncommon, give your child a reasonably well known name.
Heritage
Your baby's ancestry and religion is a big part of who he is. Many parents name their child keeping these parameters in mind. It is perfectly all right to choose to name your child after a god or religious figure. Many religions also have guidelines as to how to go about naming your baby. Sometimes, you may like a name that does not fit into the traditional category. Do not be disheartened. Perhaps you can use it as a middle name. Another trend that is catching on is to name a baby based on Numerology. This is believed to help the child achieve success as he becomes older.
Many families also follow a tradition of naming children after elderly or recently deceased members of the family. Some people also tend to name the first-born son after his father and then suffix the name with 'Junior'. This creates a potentially confusing situation in the home. Merely calling your child Junior may seem fine at first but is that what you want him to be known as when he is thirty years old? It goes for choosing names of elderly family members. Your child will have to bear the brunt if you decide to stick him with a name that went out of vogue over fifty years ago.
Memories
Some names may be associated with bad memories. Hence, it is best to avoid using them for your child. The name you select may be a nice name but if you had a nasty colleague with the same name, think twice. Are you going to be reminded of him every time you call out to your child? If there is a possibility of that happening, then discard the idea of using that name. Both parents must agree on this subject. If either parent is uncomfortable with a potential name, drop it. At the same time, do not press your partner for an explanation as to why he does not like the name.
Do not be browbeaten by other people when it comes to choosing your baby's name. After all, you are the child's parents. Ultimately, it is up to you and your spouse to choose a name that both of you are happy with.

Many larger stores have a great section for babies and you'll find great ideas that will help spur your creativity. Not only will you find some great ideas for the baby nursery theme, but you may find some great deals on baby items too.
Step #4 - Decorate According to Gender - When you are choosing the theme for the baby nursery, it may be a good idea to decide based on the gender when it comes to baby nursery decoration. Once you know whether your baby is a boy or a girl, it makes it easier to come up with the theme. However, if you want the baby's gender to be a surprise, just go with a theme that will be nice for a baby boy or a baby girl.
Step #5 - Start with the Bedding - Last of all, when you are coming up with the baby nursery theme, it's a good idea to start out by choosing the baby nursery bedding. Many times the bedding has a theme and you can follow that theme through the rest of the nursery. The bedding you choose is important for comfort and safety.
