Before You Get A Pet Puppy or Pet Dog
by: V Carder

If you have a pet dog then you know what the benefits of having a pet are, if you’re thinking about getting a pet dog there are some things you need to learn and think about first.

Remember that puppies are so cute and cuddly because they are small but puppies will grow into full sized dogs.
Everyone who has ever gotten a cute little pet puppy knows just how quickly it grows into full sized pet dog.

So you need to think about what size pet dog you want when pet puppy is full grown.

If this is your first time and you're getting a pet dog that’s still growing-- or a full grown pet dog--as an addition to your other pets, you should still think about or learn some things. Even the most experienced pet owners are always learning new things about their pet puppies or pet dogs.

Next you need to think about how much the pet food, pet medicines, pet shots, and pet supplies for your pet dog or pet puppy will cost you. Remember that your pet dog or pet puppy can get sick, get arthritis, or have joint or dental problems that it will require pet medications. Also, your pet dog or pet puppy is just like you it will need regular exercise to stay happy and healthy.

If you’re getting a pedigree, or registered breed dog, then you need to learn all you can about that breed of dog. Different dog breeds require special—pet nutrition, or-- dog diet. Different breeds of dogs need different types of dog grooming, dog grooming supplies, dog medications, and dog treats. The pedigree dog or registered breed-dog diet is important because it helps to keep your pet puppy or pet dog healthy and happy.

If you’re going to get a mixed breed puppy or mutt dog, one of the puppies or dogs from a shelter, a friend, or someone who is selling the puppies or a dog because they don’t have room for it. You’ll need to learn about the different things you need to care for your pet puppy or pet dog.

Take some time to learn all you can about the different types of dog supplies on the market.

The different types of dog supplies include-- puppy dog food, puppy treats, dog cages, dog gates, dog foods, pet puppy or pet dog beds, dog treats, dog medications, dog toys, dog grooming supplies and pet dog training videos or books.

Visit a pet store in your neighborhood or you can find a pet store or many pet stores online to get a good look at the types of dog supplies. Online is also a good place to read dog food reviews. Other dog food-buyers tell what their pet dog or pet puppy likes and doesn’t like about certain types or brands of dog foods.

Another way to learn about different kinds or brands of dog food or puppy food while online is to type any of the following word combinations into the search box on your browser and hit enter.

Type any of these into your search box and hit enter:
dog food reviews
dogs pet or dogs pets
food dogs
food for dogs
dog supplies
dry dog food
dog products

Next we will talk about the different types of Dog Treats, Puppy Treats and Dog Grooming Supplies.

World's Best Babysitter

  • No matter what type of pet you have you got to agree that having a pet or pets makes your life a little more enjoyable.

  • Over the years our family has had many different kinds of pets, but only one very extrodinary one.

I can remember the best babysitter I ever had was a K-nine trained German Sheppard named Lonee. She was a very devoted, loving and protective pet. She was quite even tempered, which is more than I can say for a lot of humans.
Lonee seemed to sense when anyone in the family was having a bad day, she would carry a stick or ball up to the person and offer to play catch. Sometimes I think it was her way of making the person feel better by getting their mind off of what ever was going wrong.

One hot afternoon my husband was burning branches and old lumber on the back part of our land.

It was a warm and beautiful day so, I let our 3 year old daughter go outside to play in the yard near the house.
I had never had any problem with our daughter straying away from the house, besides that my husband always burned things a good distance from the house. Later she would tell me that she was just chasing a butterfly.

Before long I heard our daughter whinning, I ran out the back door in time to see that Lonee had somehow managed to pull the heavy chain that kept her tied up out of the ground.

Lonee had seen our daughter go towards the burn pile, she tore the chain from the ground and ran to our daughter, used her mouth to grab our daughter by the seat of her shorts and gently drag her back to a safe spot in yard.

It was amazing to think that Lonee knew exactly where the boundary limits in the yard were for our kids. What was even more amazing was the fact that she had managed to pull that heavy chain out of the cemented ground. Needless to say, that evening Lonee got a big yummy treat for dinner, and everyone played catch, fetch or anything else she wanted to play. That's just one wonderful story about a wonderful pet.
She was with our family for 14 human years and after her death from natural causes, even though we lived in the country, our kids refused to ever get another dog.

Both of our kids have grown up and have families of their own but neither of them has ever gotten another dog.

Don't get me wrong, our grandchildren have almost always had pets, just not a dog.

I guess there are just some things in life that you don't want to replace, or just can't.

  • What kind of pets do you have?
  • What do you love most about your pet or pets?
  • What is the hardest part about having your pet?
  • Do you have a extordinary or heart warming story about your pet?
  • Is there anything you'd like to know about your pet but are having trouble finding the information?

  • Write us we'd love to hear about how your pets make your life a little more enjoyable.

How To Make Dog Training Fun
By: Daniel Waser

The number one reason why more dog owners do not get involved with training their dogs is because they perceive training a dog as a boring, lengthy mission. However, it can actually be a lot of enjoyment , and so long as you recognize that training your dog explicit actions or behaviors will not occur overnight, it can turn into a fun activity for both you and your dog.

However, with the right knowledge and a famous approach, your dog really might be one of the best well-trained dogs in the region. Wouldn't it be great if you could sing your own praises about how good your dog is as opposed to complain about him or her? Each dog owner wishes a dog that listens to their instructions plus is well behaved, however most would like this to happen with no investment of time and effort. It's so amusing, it seems that most people just expect that their dog will just automatically listen to their instructions, perhaps if they scream it at them or whip their behinds.

It is so vital to understand that it just does not in fact work this way people. Without a little preparation in advance, successful training a dog will most likely not happen. Of course you will have to invest into training a dog tips, books, and any other things that can show you step-by-step how to train your dog or puppy. As an alternative of looking at this as a dreaded job, look at it as a chance for you and your dog to become closer and while this is happening both of you will begin trusting one another much more and a unique bond will begin being created as well.

Training a dog can be a time when you will spend lots of time with your dog. Really, one reason for some of the behavior problems a dog holder may experience is because the dog is lonely and wants attention.

Always let your dog know that you are proud of him whenever he displays a behavior that is positive. These actions do not have to be monumental feats. Anything small is worth giving your dog a pat on the back and a loving chat. It's psychological, really. The more praise you give for good behavior, the more likely they will be to keep up that same behavior. Have fun with your pooch, try throwing a ball for him and letting him go and get it and bring it back to you. Just by instinct alone, he will learn to fetch and retrieve the ball back to you.

What started out as fun, leisurely time with your dog, is also a form of training a dog, even if you are just hanging out in the backyard, sipping on ice-tea, and tossing the ball back and forth to your dog. There are plenty of other examples where training a dog can be implemented without going to the extremes of detailed, lengthy training protocols. This is always a great bonus. Soon, both you and your dog will be happier overall thanks to a little extra time, attention and training a dog techniques! It all depends on what you want your dog to learn. If you are not overly concerned about your pet knowing more than a handful of instructions - that is perfectly fine - just continue simple games like fetch, retrieve, or even chase.

If you'd like to know even more ways to train your dog to be well behaved, play safe and respect your every command, then check out this review of the best dog training books today and see how anybody, including you and your dog, can learn to live in perfect harmony without frustrating and aggressive episodes of bad dog behavior.

Dog Obedience Training Guide For You
By: David Starikov

Do you own an older dog? One, who’s crossed the rug chewing stage, is calmer and meekly surrenders to your call. You love it when your pride possession cuddles around your feet, understands your basic commands and works them out in a flash. How about transforming your adorable pet into a cool and smart fun element for the household?

It’s a myth that Dog obedience training has to be trained at very tender age. Dogs can be obedience trained at any age and many older dogs can learn tricks, too, if they are active and healthy. Moreover training your Dog obedience doesn’t necessarily require a dog training professional. You could do it at home too, off course with some good and apt guidance from Dog obedience training resource.

Once your dog gets trained in dog obedience basics like how to sit, the down command, stand on command, how to stay, to come on call, or the heeling command, then it is time to shift to few advanced commands, which would transform your ordinary pet into a great helping hand and coronet you as the proud owner of a unique pet.

Here are the Advanced Dog Obedience Training commands: -

1. Teach Your Dog Leave It / Drop It - Teach it to ignore something that you know it wants. This comes in handy when you are walking by spilled food or road kill and though tempted your dog needs to avoid.

2. Teach Your Dog to Get It / Pick It Up - Teach your dog to fetch, to pick things up, have them pick up toys or food they drop while walking.

3. Teach Your Dog To Fetch - One of the best games to play with your pet. It is also a great way to keep your dog active in order to promote healthy muscles, calm and good behavior.

4. Train Your Dog To Go To His Spot - Sometimes when guests come over or your dog is misbehaving, you want to command your dog to go to a specific spot in the house and wait, such as a bed, mat or crate. This command helps at such times.

The most beneficial part of imparting Good dog obedience in an older dog is that it’s easier to judge the behavioral characteristics of a dog that has reached maturity. Raw For Your Paws
By: peter

Most interesting study reflects on the fact that 0ur civilized society has taken our canine friends far away from their original standard of living which included their natural way of capturing, killing and consuming raw meat as their main food source.

The findings of different experiments and surveys on dogs fed on cooked and raw food were astounding. Dogs fed on cooked food exhibited: facial deformities: narrowed faces, crowded jaws, frail bones and weakened ligament, an excess of parasites and disease, pregnancy problems, skeletal deformities and organ malfunctions in the offspring. Dog's health is the greatest concern of the dog lovers and so they are suggested to read books on dog's diet to prevent such problems.

According to Dr. Russell Swift DVM in his several best selling books on dog's health explained clearly that the commercial foods are woefully deficient in key nutrients, programmed for disaster, for extinction of such species.

Scientific reason behind such comments are that carnivores cannot maintain long term production of the quantity of amylase enzyme necessary to properly digest and utilize the carbohydrates and proteins found in the commercial dog food available in the market are less digestive than animal proteins results weakening of the immune system developing allergies and other chronic immune problems, defective adrenal glands that are unable to manufacture adequate cortisol, a hormone vital for health and resistance to disease.

Recognizing nutritional deficiencies will allow you to make the necessary alterations in your dog's diet thereby promoting a long and healthy life for your companion. Some raw diet companies have introduced raw food products that claims to be "100% complete and balanced but the fact is that no one food can be 100% complete and balanced enough to feed on a day-after-day basis because the various stages of life and development of your pet also requires a change. Therefore to meet the nutritional needs of your pet you have to consider his particular needs, breed requirements, health issues, breeding status, stress levels, and age etc.

Another major mistake that is commonly practice is feeding boneless meal which is nutritionally disastrous for dogs. Generally dogs are offered phosphorus rich diet including eggs and meat which is not good for your dog. Meal with bones rich in calcium should also be given in the raw form. The mystery of good health is locked within the fresh, raw foods provided by nature and not in cooked food.

Normal Doggie Behaviors
By: peter

Prior to anything one must remember that dogs are animals and they should never be humiliated or punished for doing what comes naturally to him instead they should be dealt with care. Excessive behavioral patterns displayed that could be surprising and upsetting sometime should be dealt with love and proper training.

To help you to deal with your new dog here are some of the expected normal doggie behavior guidelines:

1. The sense of territoriality exist in the blood of the dog whether you find them in the street or at home because they have evolved from wild animals and will defend their home and yard or anything belonging to their owners from the strangers by barking or growling. If anything excess is displayed in this area then there is a need for training otherwise it is normal behavior.

2. Barking is their way to communicate to other dogs, to their owners, to strangers who they feel threatens them. Besides this they also bark if they hear any strange noise at any hour of the day warning of something unusual. If this type of barking pattern exist in your dog then your dog is normal but if your new dog bark too much then getting trained by a professional is required or you can opt for barking collars especially designed to help correct a dog's excessive barking.

3. The desire to keep their food for themselves is found to be very strong even in the smallest dog which is a very natural behavior. Teasing the dog for such behavior may be fatal, so it is recommended to feed your dog in a quiet location free of distractions. Beside your dog your children must also be taught how to behave while he is eating to avoid potential nips or bites.

4. Dogs explore their world by chewing anything that comes to their way. They love to chew and gnaw anything they are supplied with toys for example Rawhide chews and plastic chew of his own. This is nothing abnormal but anything excessive needs care.

5. If trained properly then your dog will urinate and defecate where they are told to do but sometimes under certain circumstances your dog will urinate or defecate where they should not. Punishing them will make the situation worse that will only make the dog more nervous and possibly cause more errors in the future. Make sure the dog has plenteous opportunities to go outside.

6. Nipping and Biting are normal in dog and they do to protect themselves from harm. If this behavior is excessive then it is imperative to take steps to stop it before it becomes a real problem.

Understanding and dealing with your dog's behavior is necessary for a new pet owner's happiness with their new friend.

Bee Venom For Your Old Dog
By: peter

Has your dog grown old? Is he losing interest in those activities in which he was previously interested? Is he getting up late? Is he reluctant to go out for walks? Is he.....? All these symptoms show that he has grown old. There is no need to feel sorry because aging is a natural phenomenon that happens in every living things slowing down the regular activities of life. You should be glad to know that an ancient therapy is giving your dog a new life. The whole credit goes to the Father of Medicine Hippocrates who mentioned it as an arthritis remedy.

How many of us know the benefits of bee venom which is scientifically termed as apitherapy? An ancient therapy which have been known for thousands of years prove to be an effective supplement for older dogs with impaired mobility which was initially used for joint pains in human has now migrated to pet treatments with effective results. Such treatment reflected how important honey bee is. We benefit not only from honey but also from honey bee venom. Melittin, apamin and peptide 401 are active components with proven anti inflammatory actions that are found in bee venom prove to be an effective supplement for older dog with impaired mobility. Such dogs are either stung by bees or injected with bee venom to increase their mobility without any significant side effects.

Recently this primitive treatment of injecting venom has emerged with a new approach of oral treatment with similar benefits. Bee venom taken orally in the form of a capsule or in honey originated in New Zealand few years ago. With this new approach in treatment thousands of dogs with impaired mobility have found a new way of living. Even those dogs suffering from Hip Dysplasia can also be cured with such treatment. In other words we could say that bee venom is a boon for the joint problem patient including the canines. The working of bee venom depends on the normal production of natural cortisol by the adrenal gland of your dog that assists blood flow throughout the body. Important elements in bee venom increase blood flow to affected joints, carrying away wastes and supplying nutrients besides inhibiting the production of prostaglandins which increase joint inflammation. There are no side effects; the cortisol levels remained higher even after the dog stopped receiving bee venom treatment.

It is delightful to see our pet recovering and amazing to find that even the dogs can understand the changes in them and they eagerly wait for that venom supplement to be given that helps them to regain their original carefree state.

Different Treat For Different Breed
By: peter

A crucial and beneficial project to undertake with your dog is to train it properly so that training makes living together a pleasurable and rewarding experience. Training allows you to connect with your dog through communication which is vital in directing your dog to follow your commands, as well as establishing a good lifelong relationship. Training is not the panacea for all behavioral issues, but it is a good foundational start to civilized the wild behavior of your dog. Remember that different breed need different treat therefore your training must be based on that hypothesis.

Pure breeds have been polished over the years for specialized purposes and care should be taken not to force to your dog to something which he is incapable of which would give rise to frustration between the two. Let us take a look at the hunting breeds, bred to flush game from its hiding places and then to retrieve the game after we have dispatched it. Water dogs (Labrador Retriever), bird dogs (Irish Setters and the Pointer breeds) and tracking dogs (hounds of all varieties) falls under this category bred for the purpose of waterfowl hunting and retrieval in wet land environments, land-hunting animal and leashed hunts or long distance, night hunts for nocturnal animals, such as raccoons or opossums, which may travel great distances in escape attempts. The lap dog or house pet breeds for example Chihuahuas, Lhasa Apsos, Toy Poodles, Pomeranians and Pekingese are the next group of smaller animals carrying sociable personalities, well suited for common pet tricks, tolerant and commonly trained to be dressed up in pint size outfits for special occasions and holidays. Breeds that include German Shepherds, Malamutes, Australian Cattle Dogs and various other breeds of similar size and nature falls under the category of Working dogs classification are trained for assisting in transportation via dog sleds, for drug and explosive detection, personal security and protection, leading the visually impaired and livestock control. They are found on farm lots working livestock, police and military forces around the world and on the snowy tundra.

After categorizing the different breeds it will become easy for you to decide what type of treatment is required for each breed. Just as you would not ask a driver to fly an airplane, you should not ask a pure breed dog to do something their breeding would make them incapable of which would damage your relationship.
