A Perfectly Clean Uninstall
Uninstalling a Windows application leaves multiple traces such as abandoned registry keys, configuration files and shared libraries that are no longer used by any application. When you are looking for a perfect solution to your problem, you are typically downloading and testing dozens of different applications distributed on the try-before-you-buy basis. After you complete your search, you'll decide on just one application, and will want to remove the other products you've tested. But do you realize how much garbage they leave behind even after being 'completely' uninstalled?
If you install a comprehensive suite created by a big-name company, you're getting the best quality software that surely knows how to behave and how to clean up after itself, right? Wrong! Many if not all products leave behind them multiple traces that are more than likely to make your computer behave odd, or even lead to problems that are impossible to predict and hard to resolve.
Want examples? How about a firewall that forgets to remove a system-level driver that filters IP packets? After uninstalling the product, the driver just sits there, doing nothing except slowing down the performance of your PC. Try another one of those firewalls and stack an extra system-level driver on top, and you'll get connectivity problems that are very hard to resolve if you're not an experienced system administrator.
Did you use any tools to make backups of your CDs and DVDs? There's a bunch of tools on the market that shamelessly leave behind the drivers they use to access the disks directly, and, let's nail it, circumvent their copy protection. Each of these drivers slows down access to optical disks and makes reads and writes less stable. You might get many coasters just because of these extra links in the driver chain.
Simple utilities created by small companies and independent software vendors are very likely to leave traces behind in many places on your computer. Being time-limited by their definition, they try to hide information about their installation date and usage in obscure places, making it deliberately difficult to trace and clean up. There's nothing wrong with protecting intellectual property, but what if you test a bunch of applications, and decide on a single app to do the job? Do you really have to bring all the garbage in house in order to buy just one tool?
If you start thinking that the only way to keep your computer clean is by not installing anything on it, think again!
There's a great solution to these kind of problems made by ChemTable. Reg Organizer helps you clean sweep your computer and keeps it in pristine clean condition by removing any traces left behind after you uninstall a product.
It works simply, quietly, and with no magic. Reg Organizer makes snapshots of your system before you install an application and immediately after. Comparing the two snapshots discovers all changes that were made to the files on your hard drives and Windows Registry settings. Uninstalling an application in Reg Organizer sweeps your computer pristine clean, allowing for no traces to be left behind on the PC and effectively making it the way it was before you installed the application.
No more abandoned files, no hidden registry settings, and no quirky drivers to harm your PC performance! With Reg Organizer you can try as many tools, utilities and packages as you please without slowing down your PC or littering its hard disk.
Are you a Reg Organizer user already? Open Reg Organizer, open the "Mode" menu, and select "Application Uninstall". From there you will be able to remove applications and all of their files, registry settings, and other traces, effectively restoring your computer into the state it was in before installing the program.

Importance Of Anti Malware Software Today
By: Jamie Hanson
The demand for Internet security applications has risen dramatically today and one has to say that this comes as little surprise given the amounts of threats that are on the web. Many individuals do not realize just how critical these pieces of software are and sometimes one has to point out the dangers of the likes of viruses, spyware and Trojan horses to get people to practice them. Malicious attacks are there in the internet always. Another thing to point out is that lots of people also believe that without connection to the web you are secure from infections. The viruse ca n attack you from any where starting from a disk.
Malware is a very general term that is used mostly to describe a group of damaging infections and it means " malicious software ". It accumulates many viruses. So what is the difference between them and how can one fight them?
Spyware takes away the information from your database. This collected information will most usually be sent to advertisers for deplorable purposes.
Viruse infect the total sytem of the data base. They are the most severe type of malware because they can wipe out your files, corrupt registry data, reformat a hard drive, modify settings and fundamentally render a system unusable.
Trozan virus can acces your PC. They will not copy like a virus but once you are infected and control is gained by the hacker, he/she can control your PC, erase information, corrupt components, steal data and many perform many other actions.
Worms are less damaging. Ordinarily a worm will exploit security vulnerabilities and can do things like use up lots of Internet bandwidth. It will often use networks to send many versions of itself to other systems that are connected to the network.
Those are the 4 most standard categories of malware that you need to know about and you can find more in depth definitions of them about the web. These simple definitions should be enough though to tell you how important PC security software is and what can happen to your system if you don't have protection.

7 Ways To Save On Your InkJet Printing Costs
By Mark Idzik
Inkjet printers are not only getting better, they`re also getting less expensive. Why is that?
The inkjet printer manufacturers have built their business around the supplies rather than the printer itself. They make the printers as inexpensive as possible, sometimes selling them at cost, or less and making long term profits from the inkjet cartridges.
Manufacturers regularly warn about using generic cartridges, and highly recommend their own. Truth be told, there is very little difference between the two and you can regularly save over half of your current manufacturer branded cartridge purchases.
To help keep your inkjet supply costs low, here are seven tips that will keep you under budget:
1) When printing inter-office, internal, personal or draft documents, use the `draft` and `grayscale` options in your printer settings. This will save on both black ink was well as color ink. Save color and standard black for your final document print.
2) Select inkjet printers that use separate black and color inkjet cartridges like the Canon `i` series. Many of these printers have 2 black and 4 color cartridges that allow you to replace only the colors that are running low, not just the one `color` cartridge as many printers often do. This saves on long term cartridge costs and lengthens the time between cartridge replacements.
3) Purchase `generic` cartridges made for your printer. These are of similar quality to the manufacturer`s brand, and often at less than half the price.
4) Purchase `remanufactured` cartridges compatible with your printer. These are cartridges collected from the original owner, cleaned and re-filled with the same ink.
5) Purchase a cartridge `refill kit`. You`ll receive a kit that will allow you to refill the ink in your cartridge rather than a new cartridge. This is a great way to recycle and the quality is high and costs low.
6) Purchase your cartridges in bulk to save on shipping costs and discounts are sometimes available on larger single purchases.
7) Order your cartridges online to save time and money. Many local stores don`t carry the generic versions and costs are normally substantially lower online.
Using any combination of the tips above will save you both time and money and help you manage your inkjet printing supply needs easily.

Learn How To Hide Files And Folders On Your Computer
By Michael D. Fischer
Do you have files and documents that are very sensitive on your computer that you wish you could hide from others? Chances are you do. You may have important work documents that you need to keep away from your kids or a secret letter you need hidden from your spouse. In any case, there are several ways to hide these documents of interest.
SEOWave Internet Solutions has developed software to help consumers hide their private documents and files. `We determined through research that users wanted an easier way to secure private documents using an easy, step-by-step secure software system` said Michael D. Fischer, SEOWave.com. `There were several ways to hide files. We wanted to create a simple, yet effective way to hide files for consumers.`
The Windows based program is called FileHidingSoftware.com (http://www.filehidingsoftware.com).
There are other ways to hide software on your computer. For instance you could:
1. Save your documents to a floppy disk or CD.
2. If you have a website, you could upload the information to a directory. There are several programs that will allow you to upload your files. IPSwitch (http://www.ipswitch.com) and Simple FTP Client (http://www.simple-ftp-client.com) (Don`t forget to password protect your website`s directory!)
3. You could create a virtual folder (a fake folder). One example is the Control Panel. The control panel is not really folder. Not convinced? Try searching for it on your local hard drive. I bet you can`t find it. :)
With this in mind, Fischer wanted to create something simple for users.
After determining that most people wanted something easier to use, Fischer went to work overseeing the development of software that could securely hide files and folders with a `click of a button`.
`It`s much easier than the other options I mentioned`, Fischer added.

About FileHidingSoftware.com:
FileHidingSoftware.com is a simple file and folder security application that provides an easy to use interface that allows you to choose the files by selecting the directories in which you choose to block users from viewing. With a password protection feature, you can easily lock and unlock the folders of your choice without worrying about anyone seeing your files.

How does freeware and shareware help computer operation?
By: Jamie Hanson
Freeware is copyright software which is given free by the author. The copyright continues with the author, that restrains you to do anything, which is not specified by him. These are free but not for sale. It can be downloaded from the net and are normally intended to be applied for personal use and not for commercial utilization. The software notifies its restrictions. There is also several risk involved as the code of the origin is available in the internet, it can be modified, edited and updated by other programmers than the author.
The author may not update the software. There may not be any updates and changes as will be required from time to time. Therefore it becomes useless after a period. Furthermore the author may not provide you the technical backup.
On the other hand shareware is software, which is available in the internet and is offered to the users on a trial basis for a specific period. The period may vary from 15 days to two months. After which as per the condition you may retain the software by paying the requisite amount. These downloads are commonly available from the authors website and also from software download sites. The author gives you the technical support and updates, once you are registered with him.
The trial edition can be copied and shared, but the trial period is stipulated. The recipient of the trial version will have to pay for registration and use the software permanently. Many authors stipulate period for the use of the software and some permit only number of usage. Different conditions are put by diferent authors. Most of the authors permit you to use the complete version of the software, and many authors hand you only a part of the software for your rating.
The trial software and the shareware have no such specific difference but the term shareware is an old version and the term trial software has overtaken the use of the earlier term. In the test software the biggest advantage is you can try the software for a limited period and appraise its performance before buying it. This method can be used in many other software; to analyze and conclude which software best suits your requirement. The major gain which you get from shareware is that it costs less than the software purchasable in stores. The success of trial software or shareware is becoming popular among the vendors and more and more people are attracted to this method of marketing that allows the user to evaluate their product during the trial period before buying it.

Simplify Your PC With Windows 7
By: http//www.itvoir.com
Microsoft has been successful in creating Windows 7 both the 32-bit and 64-bit operating system software.
The new software has officially arrived and the devices bundle with the operating system, which has been already announced by different vendors, will be released in the market after Windows 7's release.
According to various analysts, unlike its predecessor Vista, which introduced a large number of new features, the new operating system is projected to be a more focused and augmented upgrade in the company’s Windows line. And it is expected to be fully compatible with applications and hardware of prior Microsoft’s versions.
The new software will have multi-touch support, a redesigned Windows Shell with a new taskbar, a home networking system called HomeGroup and many performance improvements that are discussed below:
Desktop
The new Windows 7 has various new features like Aero Shake, Aero Peek, and Snap that clear the open clutter or make the open windows translucent to check your desktop. The new operating system provides a choice of wallpapers, themes and slideshows. It has a new control panel interface that offers users to customize and switch between themes, as well as download more themes from the company's web site. Its improved taskbar shows thumbnail previews of web pages, documents or even running video.
HomeGroup
Now connect two or more PCs running Windows 7 with “HomeGroup”, and share files and printer in a home network or small offices. The new feature has “Share with” menu that provides a speedy way to share individual files between PCs. Also, with password-protection, HomeGroup puts users in total control.
Jump Lists
In Windows 7, users can check back the most recently used documents, pictures, songs, or websites by just right clicking the Word icon on the taskbar. You can also modify the Jump List according to usage, for example commands for composing new e-mail messages or playing music.
Windows XP Mode
To attract enterprises, Microsoft provides XP mode that runs a full-fledged Windows XP virtual environment using Microsoft’s Virtual PC. It requires an additional download, but users can run applications that are not compatible with the new operating system.
Snap
With Snap, users can resize open windows quickly by dragging them to the edges of your screen. With Aero technology, users will have more fun in reading, organizing and comparing windows.
Windows Live Essentials
It is a free software available from the Windows Live website, which provides e-mail, instant messaging, photo editing, movie maker, toolbar and blogging to the consumers.
Security
The new Windows 7 has Windows Action Center which covers both security and maintenance of the computer. Earlier, it was called as Windows Security Centre.
Windows Search
In Windows 7, user can find more things in more places and with much faster speed. Besides its own storage, the search also encompasses external hard drives, networked PCs, and libraries.
Missing Applications
In the new operating system, Microsoft has left few applications that were present in prior releases of Microsoft Windows. The applications include Windows Calendar, Windows Mail, Windows Movie Maker, and Windows Photo Gallery. However, some of the applications will be offered separately as part of the free Windows Live Essentials suite.
The final RTM (Release to manufacturing) of Windows 7 had released on July 13th 2009 in both x86 and x64 versions. After that Microsoft released Windows 7 to OEMs (original equipment manufacturers and system builders) on July 24th and on August 16th, Windows 7 was made available to Microsoft Certified and Gold Certified Partners.

Interoperability Is More Than Just Talking With Each Other
by articles
Microsoft and Sun recently announced their Open Source Project Stonehenge at the JavaOne conference. Stonehenge is a reference implementation that shows how to bridge the two major development platforms Java and .NET using Web Services. This initiative definitely puts the spotlight on heterogeneity and the challenges that come with it.
Interoperability on the platform level is just the starting point of bridging the two worlds. It leads to further challenges down the road and several questions that come with it:
Who needs interoperability?
How does it affect team productivity?
Is it all about application stacks?
How effective can we diagnose problems?
How to calculate TCO 1 + 1 = 2 or 3?
Who needs interoperability?
There are different use cases where companies need to think about interoperability
Integrating different systems implemented on different platforms, e.g.: ERP with CRM
Integrating 3rd party solutions that only run on a specific platform, e.g.: Enterprise Search Engines
Integrate components inherited from acquisitions.
The driving factor of interoperability in all these cases is gained productivity. Instead of re-implementing an existing system in order to bring it on to the platform of choice it is more productive to integrate with the other platform.
Individual platforms also have their individual strengths in different areas. Microsoft technologies for instance provide great flexibility and good tools to implement end-user applications whereas the Java platform has proven itself very strong in backend enterprise systems. Leveraging the best of both sides requires the integration of these two worlds.
Microsoft and Sun took the first step by providing a reference implementation that shows how to technically integrate .NET and Java by using Web Services. This is a first important step - but there is more than the technical integration that we need in order to successfully make interoperability happen.

Dusty Desert Destroys Desktops
By Nat Davis
What’s a little dust?
It may simply look bad on the surface but it could be destroying your computer from the inside out!
The tiny dust found in many home and office computers, along with the layers of dust found in the desert communities of Arizona are the cause of many of the repairs we find ourselves asked to do.
Keeping your computer clean will prevent the layer of dust from literally blanketing your computer in a dirty layer of insulation an insulation that turns warmth into computer destroying heat when combined with these tiny fans.
It is critical to keep your computer free from smoke and dust.
Canned air, at the cost of $2 per can, can clean your computer for a year.
Simply remove the case and direct the air into the tiny nooks and crannies. We recommend taking your computer onto your patio for this airing. You’ll be surprised at the cloud of dust that spews out of your computer.http://www.geekforce.biz

The Importance Of Protecting Your PC From Viruses And Spam
By Ken Katz
Today the internet is a mine field of malicious code looking to harm your computer. Hackers want to have access to your PC for both fun and profit. You must be diligent in your ability to detect and then protect your important computer data.
Understanding what hackers are looking for, what doors they use to gain entry into your computer and which programs are available to help you protect your PC against any illegal entry will give you greater peace of mind and protect your valuable data.
There are three types of threats to your computer that you need to be concerned about. The first are viruses. The definition of a computer virus is a piece of code or a program that is that is loaded onto and run on your computer without your knowledge. They can attach themselves to other programs on your computer. Some Virus’ can reproduce at a great rate and in turn use up a lot of your computer memory. This eventually can cause your computer to crash. You get Viruses most commonly via email or downloading programs and files. One way is in form of .exe files. If you receive an .exe file you should never open it unless it has been checked and approved as safe by your virus protection program.
Viruses can come into your computer in many other forms. You have to be careful with flash files, movies, mp3 and even .jpeg files. This is a good reason to have virus protection software installed on your computer. Companies like Norton, McAfee (McAfee.com), Trend Micro who makes PC-cilliin (trendmicro.com) and Grisoft (grisoft.com) among others make excellent virus protection products. Grisoft makes AVG Pro which is competent virus protection software. They have a personal edition which is free to use and is very good.
The next piece of software that is needed to protect your PC computer is a firewall. A firewall is used to block illegal access to your computer or network. It will block suspicious data from flowing into your PC and block unapproved programs outside your computer from taking data from your PC.
Think of a firewall as a doorman whose job it is to open a large locked door. When the doorman knows who is knocking at the door either by an announcement or because he recognizes the person he will let them in. With your firewall the firewall is unlocked only on your authorization allowing data to be passed on or received. It learns after awhile who is trusted and who is not.
A firewall comes standard with Microsoft Windows XP (Microsoft.com). But in order for it to protect, you must turn it on. Other solutions are Symantec’s Norton Personal Firewall which you can buy by itself or bundled in the Norton Security Suite (symantec.com). McAfee (McAfee.com) also has a good firewall as well as the free version of Zone Labs firewall called Zone Alarm (zonelabs.com).
And, finally you should have good spyware software to protect against hackers or companies from snooping to find information about you through your internet connection. It is commonly used by companies for marketing purposes. Free spyware software that is widely used is Spybot`s Search & Destroy (safer-networking.org) or Lavasoft’s (lavasoft.com) free version of their Ad-aware spyware application. Spy Sweeper from Webroot (webroot.com) is an excellent choice and does not cost very much. Spy Sweeper has received many top reviews from the computer magazines.
If you install a virus protection software, Firewall and spyware software your computer will be well protected and you will have peace of mind. And, you needn`t spend a lot. In each category you can find a free version that is very good and will help keep your computer problem free.

How to Build Custom Computers
by analogik
Building a computer may seem like a project for a PhD candidate. The fact is that anyone can build a custom computer at home, and it will be tailor-made to the user's needs.
This is not a way to save money. Computers from a discount store, with bundled software and operating systems, are far cheaper than custom-built machines. Most of those computers have compromises in performance and quality. Custom builders don't have to make compromises.
There are many sources for components. Although the local electronics store has some useful items, most of the parts for the project must come by mail order. Advertisements in magazines and online list numerous sources. The first component purchased is the case. There are several types of cases. From compact to tower, they offer features not found in factory-built computers. A case is usually purchased with a power supply. Buy a power supply that is bigger than needed. Extra power always comes in handy. The case should come with a fan, as well.
The next item is the motherboard. Modern motherboards have many components already installed on the board. Video cards and disk drive controllers included on the board may not be adequate. Be sure that there are plenty of expansion slots on the board to accommodate upgrades in these areas. The processor on the motherboard should be the fastest and newest one available. Processors are improved every year, and they should not be obsolete before being plugged in.
Disk drives and optical drives are cheap. Factory computers come with an optical drive and a hard drive. It is a good idea to include other drives, even if they seem unnecessary. If the goal is gaming, then the biggest and fastest video card goes into one of the slots. Purchase the maximum amount of memory that will fit on the motherboard. This speeds up the machine considerably.
Choose the operating system that is best for the applications being used. Consulting others will help with this choice. Buying an operating system is a new experience for many users, but it is nothing to worry about. When everything is connected, boot the system and input the settings. It wouldn't hurt to find a book on the subject, but it is easier to do than anyone lets on.
