How to Create a Simple Website
by analogik

So you want your own website? Go on, give it a shot, you can do it.

First you need a website domain name, a website host and a website tool to build your site. A domain name is the address, similar to your home address, where visitors will go to find your site. For example, www.myownwebsite.com is a website address or domain name.

A website host is a company who will provide the infrastructure for your website on the Internet. The host will also assist you should you have any technical issues when visiting your site.

Website building tools are a new website owner's best friend. These tools are user friendly and allow you to quickly and quite nicely build your own website.

Where to begin? A quick search on the Internet will introduce you to numerous companies who offer one-stop shopping. Various businesses existing today, offer customers a start to finish guide to website owning, building and maintaining. Doing business with one of these reputable companies can be a great benefit to you in building and owning your website.

After researching and selecting such a company, you will be asked to pick a domain name. Your domain name should be specific yet easy for visitors to remember. A shorter address is more likely to generate more traffic to your site than a longer name.

You will then be asked to select a web hosting account. These accounts range from a very basic and limited amount of disk space to an elaborate and unlimited amount of disk space. To begin, select a basic account because you can always upgrade should you decide to in the future.

What is most important when selecting a web hosting provider are the tools offered to you to build your site. These tools eliminate the need to understand complex programming language in order to construct your site. You will be surprised at how easy it is to build your website and how professional it will look with some patience and thought.

So, don't let inexperience discourage you. Every one starts at the beginning some time. In less time than you think, and at a low cost, you will be giving your family, friends, business partners and customers your new website address which you constructed all by yourself!

Web Site Design Is the Process of Designing
a Template and Web Site on the Internet

by sweetdeepti

Web site design is the process of designing a template or web site on the internet. This is used for many different types of web sites. Each web site design is unique and individual to the particular site in question. The site designer will begin by asking you some basic questions about the site and based on the answers, will begin to build a site for you and your particular product or service. for more help visit to:www.html-lockdown.com. All designs will be passed to you for approval and any changes asked for will be made into the site. There are also web sites that will allow you to be the web site designer. Places such as Homestead, Angel fire and Velocities will allow you to design your own web site. If you are a small business, it may be advisable to either consult with the designer at the place that hosts your site, or consult a web site designer. A poorly designed and made site will drive away traffic and cost you sales, time and money. This is why a web site designer needs to be called in, to make the site look professional and clean. This is a must when selling on the internet.

When you are looking for a web site designer, please bear in mind the following:
How many of these sites have the designer done?
Are they reputable?
Can you talk to clients of this web site designer?

These questions will need to be answered. Take time to research the designer in question. This is a must to take action on. For more detail go to: www.magic-mini-site.com.As with anything else, there are cons out there willing to take your money and leave you to hold the bag. Sufficient research will net you the honest ones out there.Make certain that you receive everything in writing. This way will protect you in case of a fraudulent web site designer that skips out on you. The contract can and will be enforced. It is no longer acceptable to have a gentleman's agreement in this age. For your protection, a written contract is necessary to protect both yourself and your business. That fact cannot be stated enough. With the advent of the Digital Age, comes the need for protection in any and all business matters at hand. With a written contract, there will be no dispute over what is ordered and what is not.Once you have found your web site designer and fleshed out the contract, then work can begin on producing your site. The time limits will be specified in the contract. Once work is completed, the designer will contact you and submit the final design for approval. Once approved and paid, then the site is yours and can go live immediately. Once your site is live, then the orders can commence and your business will flourish and grow. Having a well developed functioning web site is crucial in the constant struggle for the consumer's hard earned dollar.

English Learning Software - Write Error Free English Instantly!

While Spanish may be the language that is growing most quickly across the world, English remains the language of the future. There are a number of different reasons for this that encompass travel, business, and worldwide trends. Some of the more prominent reasons that English is considered to be the language of the future include the following.

* The Language of the Sciences: English is currently the language of the sciences. Most prominent research papers are currently written in English, or written in another language and thereafter translated to English. As long as the scientific community continues to embrace the language, there is no reason to think that this trend will be changing course anytime soon.

* Most Business Is Done In English: English has become the language of business as well. While the dollar may be currently weaker than in recent years, for many years the United States was viewed as the premier nation in which foreign countries desired to do business. This, combined with the fact that England also had a very strong currency and is a financial powerhouse as well, made English the most common language in which to do business. Much as with science, unless business starts to be conducted in Spanish, there is no reason to think that English is not the language of the future.

* Technology: Because some of the world's largest technology companies are based in the United States, these companies naturally are going to gear most of their new technology towards English speaking individuals. In fact, all of the popular programming languages are coded in English. With technology companies gearing themselves toward English speaking individuals it is hard to foresee us heading in any other direction.

While learning English can seem complicated and difficult, there is no reason that you should not start learning English as soon as possible. The language isn't going anywhere; in fact, experts estimate that the number of English speakers in the world will double over the next 50 years.

When it comes to speaking a language, once you have picked up certain habits, it can often be difficult to break them, or to re-learn how to speak without using these habits. Many bilingual individuals who speak English translate sentence structures over to the English language, when the language simply does not work in the same way as other commonly spoken languages. Learning it right the first time around can ensure that you speak it correctly throughout your lifetime, and will help you in multiple facets of life including travel, business, and literature. Some of the reasons that learning to speak English correctly the first time will be to your benefit include the following.

* It is Difficult To Re-train Yourself: Re-training or Re-teaching yourself sentence structure, verb usage, and other common mistakes that can be made when learning a new language can be very difficult, and many individuals struggle with this concept. Oftentimes, once you learn something, you may never be able to learn it another way again. This is why it is important to learn how to speak English correctly the first time around.

* It Saves Money:
Learning to speak the language correctly the first time around ensures that you never have to shell out any more money to speech experts again. Many individuals who have to learn how to structure their sentences in a foreign language all over again are forced to pay thousands of dollars to re-learn what they have already studied.

* It Saves Time: Re-learning how to structure your sentences in English can be very time-consuming. Ensuring that you learn proper conjugation and sentence structure from the beginning helps to ensure that you never have to spend your valuable time re-learning what you have already learned.

Learning English correctly starts with a teacher. If you do not have the correct resources at hand to learn the language, you will never be able to learn it correctly. Online software allow you to take all the time that you need to learn proper grammar when learning the English language, and to learn the language from some of the foremost language experts in the world who contributed to the design of the software. How to use web site graphics to make your products sell
by Marlon Sanders

Free PDF shows how to avoid the top ten web site graphic design mistakes.

If you have a web site with an objective to persuade someone to do something, there are a few simple rules of graphic design that will help you get a lot better results.

1. Use graphics to reinforce your sales message.

Most people don't understand the purpose of web site graphics. The real purpose is to help reinforce your basic message.

The purpose of graphics is not to make your web site look pretty. The purpose is to accomplish a persuasive objective. Plain web site templates can't do that.

You need custom graphics that actually help you get across your sales message.

2. Use colors to create the emotions you want your readers to feel.

The secret of using colors is to understand that every color communicates an emotional feeling. Know what message the colors you're using communicates.

For example, a splash of red adds excitement. Too much red creates the feeling of danger. Dark blue signifies trust. Every color elicits emotional associations.

3. Instead of using the same, boring fonts everyone else uses, study how to use fonts to convey your underlying message.

Arial fonts are an easy choice. And while they work great for body copy, when you're creating your headline, look for a font that better portrays your sales message.

4. Use your graphics to direct the eyes on your page.

You want the graphics to direct the attention of your readers to the right places. A model who is looking off the page detracts from your sales message. But a model or photograph of a person looking in the direction of your headline pulls attention to your headline.

By understanding the basics of color, eye flow, fonts and graphics, you can reinforce the underlying message of your sales letter or web site.

7 Unpardonable Google Sins

The vast majority of sites are constructed by folks who have little knowledge about how some of the basic things they do or don’t do can spell death for those creations in Google.

These unpardonable sins are completely avoidable and need just attention and intent. I take the liberty to place 10 mistakes that Google considers as unpardonable sins.

1. 100% Flash based websites – Although Google has started indexing flash content (if created as per Google’s instructions), it is still a far cry and the site gets heavily penalized.
2. Duplicate Content – Google loves everything original. The intention is to present searchers with unique content. Google with throw you out if the content is a copy from somewhere or you use the same content for multiple sites with the idea of fooling Google.
3. Canonical Domain – Google treats www and non-www pages as different pages. All the 4 pages below are treated as separate pages by Google and can lead to the big issue of duplicate content. To avoid this, be consistent in the usage. A search on this in Google will yield you tons of guides.

* www.domain.com
* domain.com/
* www.domain.com/index.php
* domain.com/index.php

4. Linking to bad neighborhoods / link farms – It is very important to know the sites which link back to your website. Sites with poor reputation can damage your reputation in Google as well. So be careful.
5. Cloaking – Google hates stuff that is created differently for it’s bot and for the human eye. It considers that as deceit. This is treated as a black hat technique.
6. Session ids in indexable URLs – Having session ids in URL is a complete no-no if you want to get those pages indexed. Rewrite the URLs if needed.
7. Hidden Text – Another black hat technique which you should avoid under all circumstances. Display the same content to the Google bot as well as your visitors.

The above ’sins’ apply as much to other search engines as to Google. So avoiding these practices can yield you rich dividends across the board.

SEO, Link Swapping And Poor English
by Martin Fretwell

Amongst a selection of other interests, I run my own small local office supplies business. Now if you Google "Office Supplies" you might just discover us in the low 400's as I decided long ago that this was a keyword phrase best left to the big boys, with their big budgets and seo professionals. Instead I have concentrated on longer tail keywords in more specific niches to bring our traffic and new business.

For many of my chosen keyword phrases, my various web domains are not just on the first page, but in many cases are the very top, or top three organic listing. I say this not to brag, who would want to brag about the grindingly boring business that is SEO for an office supplies business? No I mention this just to highlight that in my own small way, I know a tiny bit about what I do for my living! In any case, few would argue that SEO is not a simple process, although I would not kid anyone and say it's easy. Far from it, it requires a degree of learning and quite disciplined application. SEO is work! SEO can be quite boring work. SEO can be tedious! In my experience, very often all the work is put in up front and with no guarantee of success. Anyway, that's another story which I may well write about in the future.

I was checking through my main businesses email and noticed an email with the heading "website enquiry". Now these are usually spam and more often than not I delete quite quickly. But in this case the first line caught my eye - the author of the email had written

My names Brian .I work for a stationery and office supplies company called ........ (I've changed his name here.)

My first thought was and I suspect many other recipients' first thought also would be to bin the thing straight away. I get approached all the time by people who know spelling and grammar and I don't need to waste my time on the ones that don't!
I skimmed through the email noting several erroneous placings of full stops. They all had a space between the last letter of the last word in the sentence and then no space before the first word of the next sentence. Very odd I thought as with this level of consistency it had obviously been done deliberately.

Anyway Brian explained he was doing SEO fulltime (of course it should have been full time) and was sure to be rising up the rankings very quickly, so did we want to swap links with him? I have to say I thought the days of the effectiveness of link exchange were long gone, but I am prepared to be corrected here. I couldn't resist having a quick look at the links page he directed me to, I must confess I was expecting to see a complete hash of it and that's why I clicked the link.

I wasn't disappointed and the page had a banner floating across it with the following text:

Site's that we are linked too

This was in bold red type that floated in the top section of the page. Now, if you are reading this and don't see any error, stop reading now.

I decided on reading the banner that even if I had been considering swapping links with these people, that banner alone would dissuade me. I decided to drop Brian a line and tell him about his grammatical and spelling errors, for no reason other than perhaps help him get a better response to his link building campaign.

I mentioned the couple of errors in his email as well as the errors in the banner text above, which in common usage English should at least read sites we are linked to, and although it doesn't flow so well, the absolute correct English would I suppose have read sites to which we are linked, but that would probably be slightly over pedantic in this day and age! By way of explaining why I was writing I mentioned the expression "you never get a second chance to make a first impression" and wished him well with his climb up the google rankings. I did also suggest that I am no longer sure there are many people in this country who care about using correct English, so by all means ignore the correct English if you like. I was hoping he would take the free advice in the spirit it was sent and maybe take on board my suggestions and just possibly improve his acceptance rate.

Here's the response I received:

Well thanks for the information ! Hopefully we will be on page one on google for terms such as " office supplies " page four at present. so grammer may not be my strongest point but the results i get for our site along with revenue and traffic is the most important thing . As they say money talks . No point in having perfect grammer on a site that will never be found on google . Your page 50 or more on the rankings so good luck with your climb up the google rankings

Fair enough. As I said at the outset, I have chosen a different SEO battle to fight, but it certainly appears that arrogance and ignorance do sometimes go hand in hand, especially where SEO are concerned! Is there anybody out there who feels that our language just seems not to matter any more? I'd love to hear back from you.

Graphic Overload!
by VaneeshSuri

The amateur or novice web designer will often have the "flashy graphic" mindset. I say this because I know this to be true, and I know this to be true because I was exactly that way along with many others I know. I would like to really challenge beginner, and maybe even more advanced web designers, against the heavy use of graphics in website designs while keeping in mind the following.

Initially, we may use graphics because:

- They look cool. - They make the page flashy. - They make the page have movement. - They give the page "life". - They are just totally cool, man!!

It is always a good idea to consider the actual point in using graphics in our website designs. Why am I using this graphic? What purpose does this graphic serve? How does this graphic serve the visitor? Where is an appropriate place for this or that graphic? Those are some questions we really need to be asking ourselves when we design our website.

While graphics do all the things above they sometimes guarantee that the page will:

- Load longer. - Be more busy. - Load longer. - Be an eye-popping experience. - Did I say, "Load longer"?

So back to our questions... We need to ask ourselves those questions. This day and age people on the internet are seeking out content and information. People are seeking out particular thoughts, opinions, and messages. People want content! That means people do not want to be distracted by long page loads, nonsense graphics, and/or distracting graphics.

I would say that graphics play two roles.

- They can be part of a message.

OR

- They can be part of an interface.

If your graphics do not fit in with the message of the content on your site and/or they are not doing any job at enhancing the users interface, then it's a good idea not to use the graphic. And when I say "interface", I'm also throwing the ease of the navigation of the site into that.

Cool colors and flashy graphics can be, well, cool, but if they are not serving the purpose or idea of your site then they should not be used. A computer mouse these days generally has a browser back button on it. Have you ever visited a website that does not engage you and you quickly press the back button? It's easy to do. I do it all the time. Create a site that engages your visitors. If the flashy graphics do not engage your visitors, then do not use them.

Content is what it comes right down to. People are not generally looking for "cool" unless "cool" is the actual message of the site. Consider graphics that enhance the message of your site and the interface of your site.

It's easy to smack a bunch of graphics in a page, but why are you using the graphic? What purpose does it serve? Does the graphic even serve the visitor? Sometimes less is more. As the upcoming designer, you'll have to decide though.

Managing and making your own website.
By: hamid reside

Developing a site requires planning and knowledge on programming language or scripting language like php, the most common and most widely used by developers

site map into separate pages.

images for textual content, consider using the "ALT" attribute to include a few words of descriptive text.
6. Make sure that your
7. Check for broken links and correct HTML.

A Web Search Engine: General Information
by Martin_Dijst393

Every day we use Internet services and search engines in particular when searching for information. The search results are commonly presented in the form of a list and are normally called hits. The data may consist of web pages, images, data and other types of files. Some search tools also collect data available in databanks or open directories. In comparison with Internet directories that are maintained by human editors, search engines operate automatically or are a mixture of algorithmic and human input.

Web search engines work by storing data about countless web pages which they retrieve from the INTERNET. These pages are retrieved by An Internet crawler, or differently called a spider. It is an automatically-controlled Web browser that follows every link it finds. The content of each page is then analyzed to decide how it should be indexed. Words, for instance, are extracted from titles, headings or special fields called meta tags. Data about web pages are saved and stored in an index database for further use in queries. Some search engines, such as Google, save and store the whole or part of the source page (also called a cache) as well as data about web pages, whereas others, such as AltaVista, save and store every word of every page they have discovered. The cached page always comprises the actual search text, since it is the one that was actually indexed. Consequently, it can be very helpful when the content of the current page has been updated and the search terms are no longer in it.

When a user types key words in the search field, the engine looks through its index and provides a list of best-matching web pages according to its parameters, normally with a brief summary coupled with the title of the document and at times extracts from the text. Some search tools provide an advanced tool called proximity search that allows users to determine the length between key words.

The relevance of the result set determines the usefulness of a search engine. Since there can be millions of web pages that include a particular key word or phrase, web pages can be grouped into relevant and irrelevant ones. The vast majority of search engines employ techniques to rank the results to feature the "best" results first.
The way a search software programme displays web pages differs from one engine to another. The techniques also change in time, as the use of the Internet undergoes alterations and advanced techniques appear.
